Project Description and Objectives:
The project aims at developing education and health sectors in Niger through
building and equipping about 25,000 classrooms and converting 150 health centers
to fully integrated polyclinics. The project is included under the ten-year
broadened program which aims at developing education and health sectors in
Niger. The SFD contributes in funding 306 classrooms and converting 20 health
centers into first class fully integrated polyclinics. The project includes the
following two components:
a. Development of education sector by providing educational
facilities to accommodate 15,300 male and female students to help improve the
education level and achieve the millennium goals by increasing the percentage of
primary education holders from 41% in 2003 to 94% in 2012. The project also
includes building and equipping 150 schools that will encompass 306 classrooms
accommodating between 40 to 50 male and female students per each classroom.
b. Development of health sector by converting 20 health centers into
fully integrated polyclinics on an area of 220 m2 each and which includes
medication building that will contain rooms for diagnosis, bandaging, waiting,
vaccination, pharmacy, delivery, nurse office and residence, lightening units
supplied by solar energy, wireless communication and digging water wells. This
section aims at increasing inhabitants access to high level health service,
unburdening health centers in the cities, diminishing maternal death rates from
700 to 512 deaths per each 100,000 delivery cases and diminishing infant death
rates from 81 to 56 deaths per 1,000 infants. |
