Project Description and Objectives:
      The project aims at meeting the increased demand on electric power in Azad Jammu and Kashmir district through the construction of Neelum Jhelum Hydro Power near Muzaffarabad city, the capital of the province, by bringing into water form Neelum River to the site of the power station in Chatter Kalas in the south of Muzaffarabad and connecting the new station with the national power network in Pakistan to contribute to bridging the increasing gap in electric power. The project also contributes to reducing reliance on the production of the high-cost thermal power, improving the standard of living in the province, improving economic condition, preserving the environment and obtaining clean and cost-effective power. The project includes the following components:
    a. Constructing a dam of 47 m height and 135 m length with a storage capacity of 8.20 million m3 and water intake facilities.
    b. Water transferring tunnel.
    c. Constructing the complex of power station with total capacity of 969 Megawatts and it will be connected with the national power network through Rawat and Gujranwala stations.
    d. Providing consultancy services necessary for the preparation of detailed designs, tender documents and other services necessary for execution and supervision.
