As part of its continuous efforts to support infrastructure and vital service projects, which are a fundamental component of socio-economic development, and as a result of the international financial crisis and its manifestly severe repercussions on the developing countries especially after the reduction of official aids from donor countries and organizations to the developing countries, the Fund played a major role towards this crisis by increasing loan amounts by 126.64% compared to the annual average loan amounts of the Fund since its inception. It signed 21 loan agreements totaling SR. 1,984.50 million to finance 21 projects in 19 developing countries of which 13 projects in 11 African countries, 6 projects in 6 Asian countries and two projects in other regions detailed in the table below.
