President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, received today the CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, and his accompanying delegation at the presidential palace in the capital, George Town.
The Guyanese President extended his thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for their development support to the Republic of Guyana, commending the efforts of the SFD for financing its first development projects and programs in Guyana.
Al-Marshad indicated that his visit to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana would witness the signing of two development agreements based on the beginning of development cooperation between the two sides, through SDF, which is the development arm of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Kingdom's government attaches great importance to supporting development sectors in developing countries through development projects and programs funded by the SFD.
For 49 years, the SFD has provided more than 700 development projects and programs in 84 developing countries worldwide, with a total value exceeding $18.7 billion, to contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
