Mauritius, May 9th, 2024

In a momentous event attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, the Hon. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth; the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Chief Executive Officer, H.E. Sultan Al-Marshad, officially inaugurated the Cancer Hospital project in Mauritius. The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Health in Mauritius, Hon. Dr. Kailesh Kumar Singh, the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Mauritius, H.E. Fayez Meshel Altemyat, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Mauritius to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Hon. Shaukat Soudhan.

SFD had previously contributed $25 million USD towards this significant project. the Cancer Hospital project aims to bolster Mauritius' healthcare infrastructure, providing top-tier medical facilities and services to its citizens. Spanning an expansive area of approximately 21,000 square meters and equipped with 220 medical beds, the hospital is poised to elevate healthcare standards and ensure accessible treatment for cancer patients, reflecting SFD's commitment to advancing healthcare accessibility and outcomes globally.

The Cancer Hospital projects represent a continuation of SFD's enduring dedication to supporting Mauritius' developmental goals. Since 1982, SFD has played a pivotal role in financing seven projects and programs totaling $228 million USD in Mauritius. These projects have supported vital sectors including urban development, infrastructure, healthcare, and housing, contributing significantly to sustainable growth and prosperity across Mauritius.
