AMMAN- 24 August 2026 - The Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Sultan Al-Marshad today visited UNRWA installations in Jordan, constructed and rehabilitated with funding from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through SFD. He was accompanied by UNRWA Commissioner-General ad interim Christian Saunders and Director of UNRWA Affairs in Jordan Amanya Michael Ebye.
The visit included UNRWA Preparatory Boys’ School No. 2 in Amman New Camp and Zohour Health Centre, providing an opportunity to see first-hand the impact of Saudi support on UNRWA infrastructure and education and health services for the Palestine Refugee communities UNRWA serves in Jordan.
For over three decades, the SFD has been a longstanding and valued partner of UNRWA, contributing millions of dollars since 1994. This funding has supported the construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of vital UNRWA infrastructure across all five of the Agency’s fields of operation – the Gaza Strip, the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan.
“Today’s visit provides an important opportunity to see first-hand the impact of the projects SFD has supported through UNRWA and the difference they are making in people’s daily lives,” said Sultan Al-Marshad. “Through this support, vital infrastructure has been strengthened, helping communities access quality education, healthcare and other essential services. Our support is ultimately about people – creating better opportunities, strengthening communities and advancing sustainable development. We are proud of the positive impact these projects continue to have on the communities they serve.”

The visit underscores the strategic and longstanding nature of the SFD–UNRWA partnership and the shared commitment to sustaining and strengthening cooperation in support of the Palestine Refugee communities UNRWA serves.
