A delegation from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) headed by Abdulmohsen Abdulrahman Al Khayal, visited the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott to explore ways to develop the health sector in Mauritania.
The talks were held between the Mauritanian Minister of Economic Affairs and the Promotion of Productive Sectors Ousmane Mamoudou Kan, and SFD’s head of the delegation, Al Khayal, in the presence of the Kingdom Ambassador to Mauritania, CEO of Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Medical Group, and Professor Nasser Al-Aqeel from the Saudi National Companies Leadership Program.
The delegation discussed the participation of Saudi companies in the completion of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Hospital in Nouakchott, which is funded by a grant from Saudi Arabia through SFD, to design, implement, supervise and operate the hospital. Al-Habib Medical Group will participate in supervising the new hospital.
The Mauritanian Minister reaffirmed the depth and strength of the relationship between the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and Saudi Arabia at various levels, especially in the economic cooperation. He also stressed on the importance of the King Salman Hospital project, in addition to the capabilities provided by the Saudi companies.
Saudi Arabia, through SFD, provided 10 grants to implement projects in the health, infrastructure, education and water sectors in Mauritania. Since its inception, SFD provided 18 loans to complete 16 projects in the countries.
