About SFD

The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) was established by the Royal Decree No. (M / 48) issued on 14/08/1394 AH as a government organization that provides soft loans and grants to finance development projects and programs in developing countries. This support is provided by the Kingdom to enhance economic and social growth. To improve the living standards of disadvantaged communities and support countries most in need, SFD works to finance projects to achieve sustainable development goals and enhance the effectiveness of development aid through partnerships and cooperation with regional and international organizations. .

    Chairman of the Board of Directors - H.E. Minister of Tourism

    His Excellency Ahmed Al Khateeb is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Fund for Development, as well as serving as Saudi Arabia’s first Minister of Tourism and as Chairman of the Committee of the Quality of Life Program, one of the pillars of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

    His Excellency has over 25 years of experience in investment and financial services and has successfully established, managed and restructured multiple private-sector and government entities. He is known for his ability to drive institutional transformation to realise long-term strategic objectives. Previous governmental positions include Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the General Entertainment Authority.

    His Excellency currently holds a number of other key positions driving change in Saudi Arabia, including Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Saudi Arabia Military Industries (SAMI) as well as Secretary General for the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Secretary General for Jeddah Central Development Company. HE is Member of the Board of Directors of Saudi Arabia’s pioneering Giga-Projects: NEOM and the Red Sea Development Company.He is also Advisor to HRH the Minister of Defense and to the Council of Ministers General Secretariat.

    Mr. Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad
    on March Since taking up the position Al-Murshid has led a comprehensive change program, including the introduction of a Strategic Transformation Office to implement the SFD’s long-term strategic objectives.

    The transformation program has included the introduction of a new organizational structure, improvements to the working environment, the employment of female staff, and an acceleration of the transfer of the Export Program (employees and services) to the Saudi Export-Import Bank (EXIM).

    Prior to assuming the position of CEO, Al-Murshed was General Manager of the Monitoring and Auditing Department.He was .also General Manager of the Export Assurance Department and represented the SFD at an international level Al-Murshed has also served as a member of the Credit Committee in the Exports Program, Vice Chairman of the Budget Committee, Member of the Administrative Committee, Vice Chairman of the Bid Examination Committee, and Chairman of the Electronic Systems Completion Committee. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Export-Import Bank Al-Murshed has a Bachelor of Administrative Sciences in Accounting from King Saud University, Riyadh and holds professional qualifications in export credit and financing, internal auditing and financial analysis.

  • The Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), H.E. Sultan Al-Marshad, signed today a new development loan agreement with H.E. Dr. Samir Abdelhafidh, Minister of Economy and Planning of the Republic of Tunisia, to finance the establishment of an Oasis Hub Project in southern Tunisia. The loan, exceeding USD 38 million, was signed in the presence of H.E. Dr. Abdulaziz bin Ali Al-Saqr, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Tunisia. This agreement reflects the strong development partnership that has spanned nearly 50 years between the two sides.
  • Mr. Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), met with H.E. Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, on the sidelines of the Arab Coordination Group Heads Meeting in Vienna. During the meeting, both sides discussed the development projects financed by the Fund in Mauritania.
